Master planning is one of the
most important parts of the design process. It is analyzing the overall design of your home that allows you not only to get
exactly what you want in your space, but also an efficient and pleasant place to live. It is here where Maria analyzes
her client's needs and creates floor plans with furniture and cabinet layouts to answer those needs for an efficient and enjoyable
space.
Master planning & space planning can include the following:
- Floor plan review and spatial relationship analysis
- Furniture and custom cabinetry designs for each room
- Color
plan including finishes for floors, wall & cabinetry
- Finished
product specifications.

Before (hair cutting area): This hair salon had a fair amount
of clutter and felt dated.

Bliss by Design Hair Salon (hair cutting area): The clutter
is gone. It is neat, clean and organized. A small room was added in the back left corner of the salon. Since space was at
a premium I suggested that a pocket door leading into the room would work better than a hinged door. The partition wall (facing
the salon) was built using 2x8 studs to accomodate larger items that would be placed on the built-in shelves.
The main
purpose of designing is that the space should be multi-functional. It should be able to accommodate present and future activities.

A well thought out design encompasses the individual family's
possessions and living habits. At the initial consultation I walk with my clients to the space in question. By asking questions
of what they like and don't like about their current space I am able to get a feel for what they want. When designing closet
solutions such as a master walk-in closet I ask how many long hanging, short hanging items, folded clothes, shoes, belts,
ties, accessories do they have. If the space is to small to accomodate all of their clothes that is the time to prioritize.
Then I measure length and depth of items to be stored in the new space. By doing this I can design a closet which meets their
needs. It's also important that the space be versatile.

The homeowners did not like the set up of their kitchen. It
was "U" shaped and small. They orginally had plans for an addition to extend the kitchen but the property was full of ledge
and it was cost prohibitive. They wanted a large kitchen that could accomodate more than one cook and offered room for entertaining.
After walking through the space with my clients and listening I suggested switching the kitchen to the dining/sitting area
and the dining room to where the existing kitchen was. I created a beautiful area that met all their criteria.
